SINA

Sina Port is a Fortune 500 brand consultant, entrepreneur and keynote speaker helping women get paid to be themselves.

Short bio

Sina Port is a German brand strategist, keynote speaker and business mentor based in Dubai. She created Get Paid To Be You: the idea that the women who buy from you first are the ones going through the exact struggle you already got out of. She grew up in a small village in Bavaria, worked six jobs before she turned 16, and went on to become a Fortune 500 brand consultant for Adidas, BMW, Google and Zalando, with her work featured in Vogue and CNBC. She has now worked with over 1,100 women, and has more than half a million followers online. She is married with two children.

THE IDEA

What Get Paid To Be You means

The idea Sina Port created, in her own words.

I wish I knew how she looks that put together with two kids.

I wish I knew how she cleared her skin with stuff from her own kitchen.

I wish I knew (fill in the blanks)

Every woman has thought it about someone else. Now turn it around. Someone is thinking it about you right now.

That is the whole idea. You already got out of something. Someone is still sitting in it.

Who buys from you first

They are going through the exact struggle you already got out of. They want to know how you got out. Your current reality is their dream.

Sina Port on Get Paid To Be You

But instead we hide it

We go looking for “a gap in the market”. We make up a product nobody asked for and hold it in front of our face like a mask, because that feels more like a real business than saying here is what I went through and here is how I got out. It is not. The mask is the thing that does not sell.

This is why people spend three months building a course and sell two copies. You cannot know what people will buy until they ask you for it. So you get the client first, then you build the thing they were already begging you for.

It is not the two things you are thinking

This is not sitting on the couch manifesting money out of the sky. And it is not hustling like a bro until someone finally says yes. Both leave you tired and broke. There is a third way: tell your real story, and sell a change you have already made.

Why it makes the world better

People used to live in villages. The farmer sold vegetables, the woman next door sold her sewing, the fisherman sold fish, the baker sold her best cakes. Nobody made up a product. They sold what they already knew. Then the internet gave you the power to sell your skill to anyone in the world, and talked everyone into forgetting their skill and inventing products instead.

Imagine if every woman just turned around and told the woman behind her how she did it. Nobody would have to work it out alone in the dark.

That is Get Paid To Be You. Be who you are. Share what you got through. Get paid for it.

THE METHOD

What the Feminine Business Method™ is

The name Sina Port gave the way of working underneath it all.

Most business advice was built for men. “Find a product people want. Price it low. Sell it to as many people as you can. Follow trends, go viral, promote it like crazy.”

Sina Port calls this the masculine way of doing business, and says it burns women out (and still does not pay them).

The Feminine Business Method flips it. Become known for who you are, and charge premium prices to fewer clients who want the exact change you give. The line it runs on is: we don't chase, we attract.

HER STORY

How Sina Port got here

Including the parts that are not flattering.

6 jobs before 16

She grew up in a small German village in Bavaria. Her parents did not have much money, so she worked six jobs before she turned 16: tennis coach, bartender, serving food, making flyers for local businesses, you name it. She always felt like the odd one out. Her father was the only Black man in the neighbourhood and she was the only brown girl in her school

Malaysia at 19

She left Germany at 19 with the money she had saved from those jobs, moved to Malaysia, and started branding work for startups. She got featured in a startup magazine and thought she had made it.

The Garden

A mentor asked her how you catch butterflies. She said you run around and try to catch them. He told her no: you build a garden and let them come to you. The garden became her personal brand. She started a podcast, then LinkedIn, then Instagram, telling her story and sharing her opinions because she did not know what else to do.

Get Paid to be You

That was when it landed. She had spent 5 years getting paid to be herself, which was the exact thing she had wanted as a little girl in that village. Then she got pregnant, decided she was done with a side hustle, and scaled from €1,000 months to €100,000 months with a newborn in her arms, before she hired a single person.

The nightmare

Her fear was rotting in an office cubicle, waiting for a boss to tell her when she was allowed to go to lunch. What she wanted, even as a girl, was to get paid to be herself instead of pretending to be someone else.

Starting from zero, twice

She converted to Islam and deleted her whole online presence. Not even Google knew her name. All her clients disappeared with it, because if people cannot find you, they cannot buy from you. Then she got married, left Malaysia for cold Germany, and moved in with her parents because they could not afford their own place. Her childhood bedroom was eight square metres, too small for a bed and a desk, so she filmed her first YouTube videos sitting on the bed.

Eighty views

She posted a video that got about 80 views. One of those views was a manager at Adidas. They hired her to work in Communications. A few months in, she was pulled to the side to help with the Adidas modestwear sport line, including the development of the Adidas hijab. She continued working on her business alongside her 9-5. From there she became a Fortune 500 brand consultant for BMW, speaker at Google and Zalando. Vogue and CNBC featured her. She was paid five figures to speak, not just about branding, but to tell her story.

Don't take her word for it

Her mentees say it better than she does.

Everything above is Sina Port telling you about her mentees. That is the weakest kind of proof, and she knows it. So here is the stronger kind: the women themselves, in their own words, with their own names on it.

Some of them wrote it after their first client. Some after their first €30,000 month. Some of them were the ones who nearly did not join. You can read all of it, including the criticism and how she answered it, on the Sina Port reviews page.
