How to create a Ramadan Brand Campaign for your Personal Brand

Today we're going to talk about how to prepare your personal brand for Ramadan. And how to create a Ramadan campaign that helps your personal brand to grow.

These strategies are specifically for my Muslim brothers and sisters who want to build their brand, their personal brand and their business brand during the month of Ramadan.

I have another article on how to create Ramadan campaign specifically for markers of any background. So even if you're not Muslim, but you want to target your brand toward the Muslim consumer market, you should check out that video. It's going to be linked here and down below. Let's get into it, we will cover:

  1. Why do you actually need to prepare your personal brand?

  2. How to create content and prepare it before the month starts (no matter how many days or hours you have left)

  3. Campaign types to run in Ramadan: Content Campaign

  4. Campaign types to run in Ramadan: Product Campaign

  5. Campaign types to run in Ramadan: Brand Campaign

1) Why prepare your personal brand?

And the answer is twofold.

One is professional, one is personal.

Reason 1: Consumption spikes dramatically during Ramadan

I'm talking about data and consumer behavior more in my other videos, so check that out below. But here are the basics that you need to know. The numbers are going to stick in your mind because they shocked me when I first read them.

Last year, the Muslim consumer during Ramadan spent more than 50% of their time consuming online entertainment on apps like YouTube. Specifically, video views go up dramatically, even on TikTok only it spikes by 28% video views. So you need to understand that consumption is heightened.

There's special attention and people want to consume content during Ramadan.

We have so much more time on our hands because while other people are eating and drinking, we are worshipping and what are we doing with the rest of the time? A lot of times we are consuming content. Hopefully, the content that you're going to create for people to consume is actually valuable and not just a waste of time.

So this is really the best time to reach Muslim audiences.

Reason 2: Energy levels during Ramadan

The second reason why you should prepare your brand for Ramadan is really personal and it has to do with your energy levels, your focus, and your constant chase of wanting to be consistent. So your energy levels are obviously going to vary throughout the month.

You're going to be fasting which means you don't have too much energy left to actually focus on creating content. Let's say I'm creating a 40 minutes YouTube video like I am today. I'm creating a bunch of content formats. I would not be able to do this without having a ball of water next to me, having proper breaks, and actually having that nutritional input.

I could do maybe one video a day, but I would not have that energy level that I have right now. And also, this is where we come to focus shift. I don't actually want to do so much during Ramadan. I want to focus on my Ibada. I want to focus on my prayers, on going to the mosque, on my meditation on my personal development, and not too much about talking to a camera.

And of course, you want to be consistent.

Reason 3: Brand consistency

Consistency means you can't just go to people the entire month of Ramadan and be like, "I'm back on Eid". You need to be there for your audiences. And what you don't want to do during Ramadan is stress yourself out to create a bunch of brand content if you actually would have the time to produce it before.

This is where we're coming to our next point, which is prepare your brand for Ramadan by creating content. And that means batching content.

2) How to prepare brand content for the month of Ramadan

Content Batching

Batching content basically means you group types of tasks into a period of time where you can really get into the flow workflow of that specific task.

That means instead of thinking about content, then specifically shooting it and editing it, and then thinking about the next piece of content, shooting it and editing it, what we're doing is we're batching the tasks. Here is how you can plan an entire month of content in three days.

Of course, if you're now 3 hours before Ramadan, it's going to be a bit tight, but you can use those 3 hours to do the same concept. So let's say you have three days on your hand to creating a month of content. Ask yourself, how much content do you want to create? Do you want to create daily content or every second day or like four times a week? Think about that first, and then we're going into day one.

Day 1: Ideate

Day one is all about ideating. Here's where you come up with ideas. You're going to go through all your old notes that you on the train were like writing down like a crazy person and already forgot about. You're going to go through all your Tik Tok and Instagram saves.

You're going through your YouTube history, you're going through wherever you have put ideas down your notebook, and of course, your mind. Think about the idea behind the content. What kind of content do you want to create for the month? Write it all out. And then on that first day, you gather ideas and you create a board of inspiration.

That word of inspiration looks different for everyone. So for me. I really like to use Pinterest because there I can use an inspiration board, kind of pick and choose ideas of things that I've seen and that I want to create and adjust to my style. And then I can also already put the color theme and the emotion and the feeling that I want behind my content on a board.

So if you, by the way, Arm can just make sure that you follow me, I really use it as a creative outlet to ideate and bring together ideas that may help you as well. That first day, what you're also doing is from those ideas and from that Pinterest and inspiration board.

Whatever you're choosing to do, you are going to funnel down what kind of mediums and platforms you want to play in medium, meaning the format of your content. Do you want written content blocks? Do you want swipe-throughs on Instagram? Do you want to create a YouTube video, TikTok, video, any kind of video content? Do you want to create podcast content or audio content, show you what's going on? Where is this? The sun is going down, so I had to turn up the light from my computer so you can still see me.

So you have that medium they have to format and then also the platform. What kind of platform do you want to play in? Do you want to focus on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, your website, or your podcast? What kind of platform do you actually want to focus on in Ramadan?

To create content, you can choose different platforms, of course. What you want to do is make sure that on the first day you think about all the ideas and you structure them.

Day 2: Create Content

Day two is all about creating the content. That means you're going to shoot the video, you're going to write the blog post, and you're going to record the podcast episode.

It's going to be a full day of full-on makeup, full-on hydrating, so you can communicate and talk to a camera, talk to your microphone, or write down things. So you really want to get into that zone of creating. If you're working full time or you're studying, use a weekend to do that and just turn off all your notifications because you want to focus on creating the content the entire day.

Listen, you have 24 hours that eventually you're going to use about 10 hours to actually do stuff. That is a lot of content you can produce.

Day 3: Edit

Day three is all about editing and scheduling, basically self-explanatory. If you're creating video content, there's much more editing behind it, of course.

And if you're just writing a blog or recording a podcast, but you want to make sure that you edit it and you create the marketing formats for it. So if you, for instance, are editing a YouTube video, make sure that you have already edited your thumbnails. If you're shooting a podcast episode, make sure that you write a description and that you have already scheduled it into the app.

You actually, during the month, have nothing to do other than wait for your content to come out. Of course, on some platforms like Instagram, scheduling is not as easy as on Facebook or YouTube, or even your podcast. But it's going to be fine because all you want to make sure of is that after three days you have your content ready.

And when it's time to post, you just have to click publish. We have three more things, and this is all about campaigns.

Running Campaigns during Ramadan

Run campaigns in Ramadan. Now, the concept of campaigns I not only use in my marketing field and expertise and when I work with brands and global corporations, but I also use campaigns in my life.

So these three days of batching content are basically a campaign. It's you being in the zone, investing into something without being disturbed. You are putting in your energy, and time investment in order to get out 30 days of content. The same happens with marketing campaigns. But what you're investing there is actual money that you then get out in views and followers and engagement.

So I actually would recommend to run a campaign during Ramadan because it helps you grow your reach. But a campaign can also mean series of creative output that you put out in the world. And here are three campaigns that you can run.

  • Content campaign

  • Product campaign

  • Brand campaign

3) Ramadan Content Campaign

A content campaign is basically what we just talked about the three days that you're creating content. It's a series of content that has a common red thread that has something to do with the moment you are campaigning about.

If you're thinking about a content campaign during Ramadan and make sure that you are relevant to the mind of the consumer during that month, what does that mean during the month? People are looking for inspiration, content, lifestyle content, health, self-development, and self-improvement content. So make sure that your content fits to the mindset of your audience.

If your audience is Muslim, of course, the mindset shift is much more important than if your audience is non-Muslim. Here's some content format that you can run in your campaign.

For instance: Vlogmadan. It's kind of like Vlogmas you're vlogging daily or weekly actually daily. And you basically just share your lifestyle during Ramadan.

Now, of course, you're not going to be able to pre-produce in advance because it's actually blogging on the day, editing on the day, and putting it out on the day. Personally, I don't think I would ever do that because I want to focus on my own development and my ibada.

I wouldn't choose that format. Maybe in the future, if I'm not working full time and have run a business and everything else. But for now, that's not my content format. Maybe it's something that you want to consider if you're thinking about making vlogs. You can either run weekly vlogs or daily.

For me, I'm choosing weekly because, as I said, I'm not going to produce content daily. You can choose whatever you like, and they also don't have to be 20 minutes long. They can be two minutes blocks. And if you have a mini Vlog, you can put out a 22nd blog, which is really easier than what we usually are used to on YouTube, where people really blog every single day of Ramadan.

Another content format that you can try during Ramadan is short daily content. And that is content you can pre-produce. It doesn't have to be long-form content, it can be 1 minute, it can be 20 seconds, but it can be in some kind of style. So whether that is the inspirational quote of the day, the health tip of the day, the skincare hack of the day, creating daily content on your podcast or your Instagram or YouTube and push that out.

Daily content, of course, is a really good platform for short-form content platforms like Tik Tok or Reels or even YouTube shorts. Now, other country farmers that you can think about are weekly lives especially interesting for those who want to create community and engagement during the month of Ramadan.

Of course, it means that you have to schedule your energy and you have to schedule when you actually want to go live if it's before Iftar or after Iftar. But it's a really nice concept to create community in a virtual space, as some of us are still a bit disconnected from our family doing ironic, scary.

Think about what kind of company you want to create. Inspirational, educational stick with a format for the month to really be in the zone and people can get actually really used to your content. What you see a lot of times on Instagram, for instance, or Pinterest, are those daily Countdowns of Ramadan.

That's a format that a lot of people use. It's easily created in Canva beforehand, and it's super easy to schedule or click publish every day. And it's a kind of format where people can count on with you until the day of eat. Second content format is product campaigns.

4) Ramadan Product Campaign

Product campaigns. You are producing and marketing a product or service that you offer in your personal brand or in your business. Product campaigns are specifically exciting for those people who create products and services that are useful during Ramadan. Those who are in the health and the food in the inspirational self-development field, in the self-care field, are winners because, during Ramadan, consumer behavior shows consumption of food-related products, lifestyle-related products, and “me-time”-related products go up dramatically.

So think about what products you can sell during that month. Even if you don't have a product yet, you can think about creating one even if it's an ebook. So how do you choose the product that you can market during the month? Number one think of products that will be consumed during the month of Ramadan, like self-development, mindfulness food, or even a workout program.

Let's say you're in the health and fitness industry. You can definitely create an ebook around healthy Sunnah food that people can make themselves for, suhoor and Ramadan. And it's an amazing product to sell. Another part is products that will make the Ramadan experience special. Those are things like Ramadan decoration, gift cards, and any other experience-enhancing products or services.

It could also be, for instance, a Journal or Ramadan diary that people can use during the month to just Journal their thoughts and their development and development in reading Karan or just their reflections around the month. Next product. Of course, it will be gifted at e. That could actually be anyone's product because if you think your products are nice and your services are beautiful, then you would want other people to gift it to their friends.

So think about running a product campaign around that to get people to buy a product in advance for each to give it to their friends, family, or even themselves. And the last campaign type that you can run is a brand campaign.

5) Ramadan Brand Campaign

A brand campaign is the most important campaign that you can run.

I've been working with some of the biggest brands in the world and one thing I can tell you is they invest much more money in brand campaigns than in product campaigns. Brand campaigns are really about the purpose and the vision statement of your brand. So think about what values in your personal brand or in your business brand align with the values that people are looking for in Ramadan.

There could be values like community, mindfulness, charity, or kindness, or making a difference in the world by having a positive impact on society, family, community, and just the market you're serving. So think about a brand campaign that you can run. Think about one of the biggest campaigns in the world.

Think different

Impossible is nothing.

Just do it.

Whatever it might be that inspires you. That is a brand campaign that you can look at. When you target a brand campaign. It's not so much about selling a product. It's about selling the idea of identifying with you, with your brand.

It's about making sure that people know what you stand for and bringing them into your space and making them understand that their values align with your values because that is how you create brand loyalty. So if this was helpful, please share this with someone who needs to hear this!
